    Skyfall | New Trailer

Out is a brand new trailer for Skyfall. The trailer is nearly identical to the last full trailer, but I’m okay with this because I’ve seen (and heard) enough for a while. Between Mendes saying how Nolan/The Dark Knight was a direct influence on this film, and its 97% on Rotten Tomatoes (31 reviews; not at the 100+ mark yet in terms of volume, but off to a very good start/is still a decent sign), I’m happy seeing the same footage.

Skyfall, opens November 9th in the U.S. and stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris.

I am def looking forward to seeing it and giving it a review.

Skyfall Director Sam Mendes Says Movie Heavily Influenced by The Dark Knight

Early reviews of Skyfall (have been very positive) and have drawn similarities to The Dark Knight. How much, seems a bit unlikely you could say (for obvious reasons), but Director Sam Mendes has now said that Christopher Nolan’s movies, in particular The Dark Knight, have had a great impact on how he took on and lead Bond 23:

“In terms of what [Nolan] achieved, specifically The Dark Knight, the second movie, what it achieved, which is something exceptional. It was a game changer for everybody….What Nolan proved was that you can make a huge movie that is thrilling and entertaining and has a lot to say about the world we live in, even if, in the case with The Dark Knight, it’s not even set in our world… That did help give me the confidence to take this movie in directions that, without The Dark Knight, might not have been possible.”

Mendes also said that Batman Begins and TDK showed how people are more than capable and hungry for gritty and real, and that was supposed to be part of the Bond reboot and that it helped him “sell” some of the darker moments of Skyfall to the studio. I’m certainly really curious now to see if I note the parallelism when I see Skyfall.

It should be noted that Nolan himself said after filming The Dark Knight Rises that he’d love to do a Bond film. In conclusion, Nolan is awesome.

    Skyfall | Early Reviews

I noticed this for a couple weeks now, and the trend continues; Skyfall is getting overwhelmingly positive reviews. While the movie has only 16 reviews on RT, the movie stands at 100%; that’ll prob go down (you heard it right here) to 83% in the end, but out of the 16 reviews it should be noted that from the geeks at IGN to the aficionados at Variety (part of that 16) are giving a thumbs up. Even Collider whose reviews can make mine look super positive said “wow..one of the best James Bond movies ever, and one of the best films of the year…” Now of course I’m ramping up expectations w/ this post…but whatever. I’ll save any criticism I have heard for later as well. At your own risk, below is a 50 second clip of Bond catching up with Skyfall villian Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem); and fyi the movie is quite long running at 2.5hrs.

We’ll find out soon enough. Remember on November 6th, step 1: vote, step 2: play Halo 4, and complete Halo 4 by Thursday midnight/Friday night to watch Skyfall, Friday November 9th. Saturday repeat step 2.

Skyfall Soundtrack | 7 Minute Preview

A nearly seven minute preview of Skyfall’s original score was just released. The score for the 23rd Bond movie was composed by veteran Thomas Newman. Since 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, all Bond movies have been scored by David Arnold (whose second music score was 1994’s Stargate), but Director Sam Mendes has worked with Newman on many occasions and brought him in for Bond 23.  Personally I thought Arnold did a superb job on Casino Royale.

Newman has scored some very famous movies such as Wall-E, and one he’s very very famous for, The Shawshank Redemption. For those who are big into motion picture scores, enjoy. And in case you wanna hear David Arnold’s take on the Bond theme, the closing music for Casino Royale is also below (I recommend).

Skyfall, opens  in the US on November 9th.

Adele's "Skyfall" Theme Song Leaked Two Days Early

As you probably know, Adele wrote and performed the new Bond theme for Bond 23: Skyfall. The song, also named Skyfall, is the first Daniel Craig Bond movie and the newest bond movie since 2002’s Die Another Day where the song has the same title as the movie itself.

While the song was supposed to be released Thursday, parts of it have leaked online. Whether this was intentional or not, the song is getting positive reviews. Take a listen, its alittle slow, but yeah its chill.

So things continue to look really good for Bond 23 in what people are calling (and hoping anyway) is the true sequel to Casino Royale. Its been four years since the last Bond movie. We’ll see Craig again as he is officially Bond for the 24th and 25th installments.

In the meantime, Bond 23, Skyfall opens in the US on November 9th.
