New trailer for Marvel’s Iron Man 3 | The Avengers Phase II Begins

The new trailer for Marvel’s Iron Man 3 is out kicking off The Avengers Phase II: Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World (Fall 2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Spring 2014), and finally The Avengers 2 out May 2015.

For now, poor Tony (Robert Downey Jr) seems to be suffering from PTSD since the Avengers assembled. In the works is his new armor that he can summon at will. And finally Tony gets to face off against his arch nemesis, The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley who seems to be more middle eastern than straight out Asian based on this preview). Guy Pearce plays a new Justin Hammer like secondary villain, and you can generally count on Guy Pearce giving a good performance so between him and Gandhi taking on Tony, could be good.

The preview as Marvel has said 100 times now, shows the series trying to get back to the core. Iron Man 2 was immediately put into production and was essentially made in a year while Iron Man took two and Iron Man 3 has taken about a year and a half.

Iron Man 3 opens in the U.S. May 3, 2013 and also stars Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, and Jon Favreau.

Has anyone else noticed that the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) has a tattoo on his neck that looks an awful lot like the Captain America shield and symbol?

By Bruce, you must mean Bruce Banner, right? I mean, what other Bruce’s are there?

Iron Man 3 | Full Synopsis

Paramount has released the official synopsis for Iron Man 3.

In this third installment, Iron Man faces off against the Mandarin, Iron Man’s arch enemy. Many working on the movie have said they wanted to bring it back to  basics, like the first movie where Stark is in the cave and must first truly rely on himself (which is not quite accurate: how dare they forget Yinsen aka the guy who  actually creates the device that saves his life and helps him build the original suit!).

Below is the official synopsis. Iron Man 3 (in 3D) opens May 3rd, 2013. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Guy Pearce.

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968.

Iron Man 3 is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

And by Paramount, he really meant Marvel. Or Disney. Or someone besides Paramount, who aren’t really involved anymore, right?

New Pics of Iron Man Suit from Iron Man 3

Below are some new pics (courtesy of Collider) of the new Iron Man suit for Iron Man 3 as well as the Iron Patriot look. Pauly, care to give a description/context for color? I am not familiar with the Iron Patriot armor and story line.

Shane Black (Lethal Weapon 4, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)’s Iron Man 3  stars Robert Downey Jr of course, Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau.

    Iron Man 3 opens May 3rd, 2013.

It’s been so long since I’ve been meaning to comment on this! Sorry folks!

Iron Patriot has an interesting comic book backstory. Basically, the country thought Nick Fury was dead (long story) and Captain America took over SHIELD. Then the world thought Captain America was dead (longer story), so Iron Man took over SHIELD. Then Tony Stark pretty much lost it (longest story … may be the plot of Iron Man 3), and Norman Osborn (yeah, THAT guy from the Spiderman comics) took control of the Iron Man technology and created Iron Patriot, and ran SHIELD. Or what passed for SHIELD since some idiot allowed a sociopath to be in charge.

I’m interested to see where this goes in the movie. A whole lotta stuff has to happen, and most of it is really dark, to re-introduce the comic book storyline. I’d be interested in seeing how they introduce Iron Patriot.

Also, in the wake of the Avengers, isn’t it time Iron Man started fighting villains, not just robots?
